The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts has awarded grants totaling $154,000 in support of 23 Community Enrichment and Organizational Development projects across the region.
The Fitchburg Abolitionist Park, the Wendell Meetinghouse, the Wachusett Business Incubator in Gardner and the Sterling Arts Collaborative were included among 11 Community Enrichment projects supported by the Community Foundation.
“These grants allow the Community Foundation to support efforts across the region to improve the quality of life for everyone in North Central Massachusetts,” said Stephen Adams, President of the Community Foundation. “The variety of Community Enrichment projects we are able to support demonstrate the extraordinary ingenuity, energy and enthusiasm of our local nonprofit organizations”, Adams said.
In addition, Organizational Development grants were awarded to 12 area nonprofits working to improve or expand their operations. These include the Fitchburg Art Museum, the Chair City Legacy Makerspace, Ginny’s Helping Hand, North Star Family Services and North Quabbin Advocacy.
“By supporting strategic planning, staff training and capacity building we help our local nonprofits meet the changing demands and opportunities in the region,” said Jay Drake, Board Chair at the Community Foundation. “I hope more people will channel some of their philanthropy through the Community Foundation’s field of interest funds,” Drake said. “We receive so many more requests to support worthy projects than we can fund at our current endowment levels.”
