Fiscal Sponsorship

A fiscal sponsor is a nonprofit organization that provides fiduciary oversight, financial management, and other administrative services to help build the capacity of charitable projects.

The term “Fiscal Sponsorship” describes an arrangement between a non-profit organization such as the CFNCM, with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and a project, often a new charitable effort, conducted by an organization, group, or an individual that does not have 501(c)(3) status.

Fiscal sponsorship permits the exempt sponsor to accept funds restricted for the sponsored project on the project’s behalf. The sponsor, in turn, accepts the responsibility to ensure the funds are properly spent to achieve the project’s goals.

Fiscal sponsorship with the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts (CFNCM) provides finance and administration and expertise on fundraising and management of your nonprofit so that you can focus on your mission.

Fees: To support the services described here, we charge an administrative fee of 1% of annual fund balances and 4% on all transactions. These fees allow us to provide the services described above.
