Community Foundation Helps Launch New Veterinary Clinic at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School

The Community Foundation supported Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School (Monty Tech) with a gift of almost a half a million dollars, to aid in the building of their new Veterinary Clinic. In appreciation of this gift, Monty Tech dedicated one of the exam rooms to the Community Foundation, specifically the dental surgery/x-ray room.

Officially known as the Veterinary Science Training Center & Community Clinic, the building opened for classes in the Fall 2018 semester and will be serving the public in the Fall of 2019. Services will be available to low-income members of the community in the areas of surgery, dental, wellness, and grooming, who struggle to access care elsewhere.

Working and learning in the school’s new Veterinary Clinic, students will be introduced to all aspects of a comprehensive veterinary medicine practice and will earn college credits and industry-recognized certifications throughout the course of study.

Governor Charlie Baker was among the elected officials who attended the clinic's ribbon cutting, as well as Congressman Jim McGovern, Senator Dean Tran, Mayor of Fitchburg Stephen DiNatale, and Representative Susannah Whipps.

"This is one of the most well-organized projects that I have had the pleasure to work on," said Philip Grzewinski, President of Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts. "Each phase of the project provided learning opportunities for the students at Monty Tech, from construction to operation, and will continue to be an educational platform for them for years to come. It will also be a valuable resource to the community when the doors open in the fall."
