Community Foundation distributes over 300 fourth-quarter grants and scholarships

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts made $810,169 in charitable distributions from discretionary, advised and scholarship funds for its most recently completed quarter. 

The Community Foundation, which has over 190 charitable funds that have been established by donors, said over 50 of its funds made distributions and grants to programs in the area of education, health, environmental causes, and arts and culture programs. 

“These distributions from our generous donors are making a real difference,” said Phil Grzewinski, president of the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts.

As part of the quarterly distributions, the following funds awarded 117 scholarships totaling $110, 290: Chad F. LeBouf Memorial Scholarship Fund, Christopher Blair Erickson Memorial Scholarship Fund, Dream Endowment, Elizabeth Lord Scholarship Fund, Frances Daigneault Scholarship Fund, Glenn A. Roberts Scholarship Fund, Gregory E. Reeves Memorial Scholarship Fund, Harold F. & Elsie E. Root Scholarship Fund, Janine Holston Memorial Music Scholarship Fund, Janis Bresnahan Scholarship Fund, Jim O'Leary Scholarship Fund, Kyle G. Flood Scholarship Fund, Monty Tech Foundation Scholarship Fund, Pearl A. Russell Mathematics Scholarship Fund, Robert C. Langlois Scholarship Trust, Rotary Club of Fitchburg Scholarship Fund, The Shepherd Family Scholarship Fund and Narragansett Regional High School Class of 1973 Scholarship Fund.

The following nonprofits received distributions from donor funds at the Foundation: Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster, Leominster Education Foundation, Alison Murphy Foundation, Inc., Fitchburg Art Museum, Fairbanks School Neighborhood Association, Nashua Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America Fund, Applewild School, Foxboro Youth Baseball & Softball Association, City of Fitchburg, Diocese of Worcester, First Concern Pregnancy Resource Center, Children's Medical Research Foundation, St. Leo’s School, Doyle Field Donation Account, Nashua River Watershed Association, Inc., Fitchburg Historical Society, Fitchburg Public Schools, Northboro Recreation Fund, Friends of, Shirley Charitable Foundation, Art Longsjo Foundation, A Red Thread Adoption Services, St. Anna School, Battered Women Resources (YWCA of Central MA), Friedreichs Ataxia Research Alliance, Friends of Leominster Public Library, Friends of Sholan Farms, Inc., Townsend Historical Society Inc., Mount Wachusett Community College, Reliant Medical Group Foundation, Commonwealth of MA Special Events Fund, Worcester State University, St. Anthony’s School, St. Leo’s School, Leominster Legion Baseball, Easter Seals Massachusetts, Ennis Fire Department, Salvation Army, The Jimmy Fund Walk, Indian Hill Music, Inc., The Jimmy Fund, Pan Mass Challenge, Groton Dunstable Athletic Booster Club, University of Tampa, North Quabbin Citizen Advocacy, Inc., Worcester State University, Becker College, Boys & Girls Club Worcester, Worcester Public Schools and Parent Professional Advocacy League.

And the following funds made distributions to support their charitable mission: Beers For Good Fund, Brittany's Fund, Care Packages for Soldiers Fund, Estelle R. Ford Future Nurses Scholarship Fund, Fitchburg Public School Education Foundation, Fitchburg Riverfront Parks and Trails Fund, Hubbardston Center School Playground Fund, Monty Tech Foundation Fund, Monty Tech Vet Clinic Fund, Moran Fund, Robert C. Langlois Golf Classic Fund, Sam Pawlak Community Playground, SHINE Initiative and Southborough Library Fund.                     

Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded nearly $50 million in grants and distributions from over 180 funds that have been established by individuals, families and organizations.
