Foundation distributes nearly $500,000

– The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts made $487,566 in charitable distributions from discretionary and advised funds for its most recently completed quarter.
The Community Foundation, which has over 170 charitable funds that have been established by donors, said 24 of its funds made grant distributions to programs in the area of education, health, environmental causes, and arts and culture programs.
“Our fundholders are making a real differences through their generosity,” said Phil Grzewinski, president of the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts.
All the awards for the quarter—125 grants—came from funds established by donors to benefit a community cause, specific nonprofit or provide scholarships. Some of the local organizations that received distributions included: The Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster, Montachusett Interfaith Hospitality Network and Townsend Public Library.
Since its inception, the foundation has awarded over $35 million in grants and distributions from over 180 funds that have been established by individuals, families and organizations.
